Seven steps to flat abs!

Mari's Advanced Criss-cross

Everybody wants flat abs. It’s hard, especially as we get older. Things happen to our waistline that we have no control over. It seems to me, the older I get, in order to keep my body in shape I have to eat less and workout more! Here's the good news—Pilates works. Because everything we do in Pilates is focused around the Powerhouse. It is nice to feel a little burn once in a while to make you feel like you are doing something. I designed this Advanced Criss-cross to bring a new twist to a tried and true Pilates move.

Warm Up with 100 Calories or Less!

One of the things that I hate most about the winter is that cold feeling I get on my insides. And sadly, the healthier I eat, the colder I feel. While I haven't found any scientific proof, I do find that my clients who are losing weight feel colder than those people who are simply eating whatever they want (and most likely gaining weight). So in order to fight back from the cold while staying on a healthy meal plan, I've come up with a few simple 100-calorie-or-less warming recipes that will heat you up from the inside out. Take a look below and you'll find that warming comfort food does NOT have to be fattening.

Cut the Fat!! Five Easy Ways to Reduce the BAD Fat in Your Diet

The GOOD vs BAD Fat

Do you remember the "fat-free" craze of the 1980s? I do, and I still chuckle when I see food companies marketing their products as "fat free," claiming that the absence of fat must make that given food "healthy." We now know that fat is not as evil as we had once believed. And in fact, some fats are considered "superfoods." However, the story doesn't end there. There are still "bad" fats, and those bad fats, which include saturated fats and trans fat, should be avoided as much as possible in our diets.

Beets: A Fabulously Festive Addition to your Holiday Meal

I must admit I am having an affair with beets. I had overlooked this root vegetable for so many years, and now I am making up for it. I love to eat steamed beets, roasted beets, beet salad and pickled beets (though I'm not a fan of borsht/beet soup). Because of this, I wanted to share my favorite beet recipes with you. They are a beautiful addition to any meal, and will add a vibrant red color to your holiday table.

My new year is off to a good start, how's yours? It's not perfect by any means and it may be I am just better preparred to deal with things the way they are instead of the way they were.

I'm back, and unfortunately I can't say that I'm back because I want to share a good news story.
